Los Angeles, CA, August 27, 2020 – #GoldOpen, the community movement created by Gold House that successfully catapulted Parasite, The Farewell, Crazy Rich Asians, Just Mercy, and nearly two dozen multicultural films to box office success, is debuting the first-ever #GoldOpen Premier Access for The Walt Disney Company’s Mulan.
“We miss being together–and know the power communities unlock when they come together. As sheltering-in-place continues, it’s incumbent on us to uncover new methods of producing premium, communal experiences from our homes. “The story of Mulan, filled with bravery, love of family, resourcefulness, and a struggle to find one’s place in the world, is one that resonates deeply with many of us, especially immigrants and children of immigrants, in the Asian American community,” said Joanne Kwong, president of Pearl River Mart, the historic NYC Asian American “friendship store” founded in 1971. “Our communities are hurting in so many ways right now, and Mulan reminds us to keep fighting for those who came before us–by supporting our resilient Chinatowns, preserving culture and traditions, and celebrating the food that connects us, family to family.”
Mulan is the first Disney+ film to debut with Premier Access. Starting September 4, with Premier Access, you can watch “Mulan” before it’s available to all Disney+ subscribers. Disney+ will offer Premier Access to “Mulan” for $29.99 on disneyplus.com and select platforms. Once you have Premier Access to “Mulan,” you can watch as many times as you want on any platform where Disney+ is available. Fans can simultaneously view with others around the world at specific times throughout opening weekend; each watch party will also be followed with a Q&A panel that reflects one of the film’s three themes: Loyal, Brave, True.
