Washington, DC (March 14, 2016) – Freestyle Digital Media, the recently-acquired Digital Film Distribution division of Entertainment Studios, announced that the coming-of-age dramedy KTOWN COWBOYS will have a limited theatrical release on March 18, 2016 at the Cinema Arts Theatre located at Fair City Mall, followed by nationwide VOD release on March 25th. Specifically for the March 19th evening screenings, members of the cast and crew will be in attendance to introduce the film at Cinema Arts Theatre in Fairfax, VA.
The SXSW 2015 fan favorite was directed by Daniel Park, written by Danny Cho and Brian Chung, and stars Cho, Sunn Wee, Peter Jae, Shane Yoon, and Bobby Choy with THE HANGOVER star Ken Jeong serving as executive producer. The film also features cameos from Daniel Dae Kim, Steve Byrne, Simon Rhee and Eric Roberts as well as South Korean comedian, Kim Young Chul. KTOWN COWBOYS was produced by Brian Chung, Greg Bishop, and Daniel Sollinger of Musa Productions and was executive produced by Sam Chi of Texas Investments. The film debuted at SXSW last year to critical acclaim.
Based on the wildly successful web-series of the same name, KTOWN COWBOYS is a bro-mantic dramedy that follows a group of ball-busting, hard-partying friends wrestling with their evolution into adulthood. As their individual struggles come to light, the group bands together in Koreatown and through late nights at seedy after-hour soju bars, karaoke, drinking, girls, and even a stint in jail, each emerges as a better version of himself.
The deal was brokered by Chris Charalambous on behalf of Freestyle, and by Chung and Bishop on behalf of Musa Productions.
“KTown Cowboys is an “Entourage-esque” comedy,” said Mark Borde, Co-President, Freestyle Digital Media. “It’s filled with great performances, comedy and heart.”
