Federal Asian Pacific American Council-Business Advisory Partnership (FAPAC-BAP) held a celebration dinner successfully for the Asian Pacific American Heritage Month in April 26th.
The dinner was held in Tony Cheng ‘s Seafood Restaurant, located in Chinatown, DC. Ten Asian Pacific American government contractor founding members and guests gathered together to celebrate the Asian Pacific American Heritage Month as well as to celebrate the creation of FAPAC-BAP.
The dinner began with the welcome remarks by Honorable Mr. Samuel T. Mok, Chair and President of the FAPAC-BAP. Honorable Mr. Mok served as the former Chief Financial Officer of U.S. Department of Labor as Comptroller of the U.S. Treasury. In addition to representatives from FAPAC-BAP founding member companies, other guest speakers included Dr. Kin Wong (FAPAC president), Ms. Karen Tekleberhan (the acting Chief Financial Officer of U.S. Department of Labor), and other government officers from the United States Department of Agriculture, Office of Personnel Management, Office of Management and Budget, the Veterans Affairs Department, Department of Transportation, Department of Health and Human Services, as well as representatives from Deloitte, KPMG, and Baker Tilly. Leaders from other APA groups such as AAGEN and ASCEND also joined in to show support. The dinner was summed up by Peter Nguyen, the Financial Operation Manager of FAA at Department of Transportation, giving all best wishes to the future of FAPAC-BAP.
Federal Asian Pacific American Council (FAPAC) is one of the largest nonprofit Asian Pacific American organizations, and it is the most representative Asian Pacific American group in the federal government. Members of FAPAC are mostly Asian Pacific American federal employees. The mission of the organization is to promote diversity in the federal government, equal access to advancement and transparent career opportunities in the federal government, and share experience to improve leadership skills.
In October 2013, Honorable Mr. Samuel T. Mok led the launch of FAPAC-BAP in order to enhance understanding and experience sharing between the federal government employees and the Asian Pacific American government contractors. The founding members of the organization are successful Asian Pacific American government service providers, such as Pragmatics, Condor International Advisors, Pyramid Systems, Data and Analytic Solutions (DAS), Veracity, Oculus Group, Millennium Enterprise, Washington Retirement Planning Specialists, and Technology Science Corporation.
FAPAC-BAP aims to facilitate creating equal business access and cooperation opportunities for Asian Pacific American owned companies in the federal market, and provide more internship and employment opportunities for students and qualified professionals.
