From Thursday July 18 – Saturday July 21, the Organization of Chinese Americans will host their largest event of the year – the OCA National Convention. The program includes a variety of workshops including health workshops, writer’s workshops, and more. OCA has created five different tracks: chapter advancement track, federal leadership training track, professional development track, college track, and youth track, which will insure that there will be something of interest to everyone.
The convention will also celebrate and honor achievements of many Asian Americans across the country including former Hawaii Senator Daniel Inouye, California controller John Chiang and many more. The convention also plans to provide attendees ample opportunities to network and explore the DC area.
“The 2013 National Convention will, serve as a homecoming for all who have been involved since our founding in 1973,” said Tom Hayashi, executive director of OCA. The theme of this year’s convention is “40 Years of Advocacy and Empowerment.”
